My name is Elena. I completed DNA1 in 2013-2014 and then continued with DNA2 and 3 in the following consecutive years.
My DNA1 year was full of freedom. One of the most important areas of freedom that came from this year was the change in my perception of who Father God was for me.
I used to live in so many lies; that he was a Father that I could never satisfy, that he was ready to punish me with every mistake I’d made and go on to make, there were many many more other lies too.
Grace wasn’t a word in my vocabulary. The leaders of DNA carry grace very well.
DNA2 was then a year in which God showed me more of who I was and who I am in Him, how I am created and how I operate best.
Knowing and growing to learn to understand my inner self more helped me to love and accept myself more. This resulted in then being more efficient in loving others, accepting others and working better in a team and in leading a team.
DNA3 ended up with me gaining an understanding of self-leadership. For me, self-leadership means that I don’t have to only depend on my fellowship (discipler, my mentor, church, leaders, DNA) to grow in personal maturity.
It is a personal and habitual walk with Jesus that matures me.
I am saying this because I was a person who was always pointing to and blaming my church for my lack of maturity.
Now, 4 years after DNA all I can say is just…wow!
What a tool DNA was in God’s hand to develop me into the person I am today.
I still have things that I am on a journey with and old struggles that try to pay a visit but I can say that most of the time, I recognise these now and I know how to deal with them and the yoke that was once very heavy is becoming lighter and lighter.
After finishing DNA I participated in a mission school with Iris Global. I have since lead on three of their further mission schools and I am currently a long-term missionary serving with them in Africa.
Cross cultural mission is full of challenges and things that call you into a deeper relationship with Jesus and the need for a greater dependency on him.
Personally, the way my life was before DNA I don’t think I would be able to do the things He has called me to do and I would have given up long time ago.
DNA helped me go after God’s heart in a way I haven’t experienced before, it taught me how to fight and journey with my struggles and it has helped me grow into my calling and fully go for it.
When I was wrapped up in lies, sin and failure I cried out to God and he answered through DNA.
One of the best decisions I have taken in my life! – Elena
